Something you need to know about visa

Legally staying and studying in Canada is one of the most important things for students in Canada. How to keep your status legal? How to avoid expiration of the large and small visas?

About  study permit:


Q: Do I need to do a new study permit after graduating from high school?

A: Yes. After graduating from high school, we will help our students to complete the study permit application.


Q: Do I need to apply for a new study permit if I transfer to another university?

A: Yes. the university visa is fixed to one university. If you transfer to another university, you need to apply a study permit again.


Q: Can I go back to China for a small visa?


A: Not recommended! It is recommended that all students receive the big visa in China and leave the country after at least submitting the small visa.


Q: Can I do my visa in China?

A: Yes. but it needs to be submitted before you go out of Canada.


Q: Why is my study permit expire less than four years?

A: The Immigration will determine the expiration date of the study permit based on the estimated graduation time given by the university, sometimes less than 4 years, for example: the passport expires early.


About work permit:

Q: How long can a graduate work permit be granted?

A: Eligible university and college graduates will be given 1-3 years according to the time of studying time. Generally, undergraduate graduation is a 3-year graduation work permit.


Q: Can I renew my work permit after it expires?

A: The Graduate Work Permit (PGWP) can only be applied once in a lifetime and cannot be renewed.


Q: What if my work permit expires, but I haven't got the Perminent Residence yet?

A: If you meet the conditions, you can apply for other types of open work permits, such as employer-sponsored work permits, marriage-sponsored work permits, and so on.


About immigration:

Each province in Canada has a lot of channels to help you immigrate. Here are only two of the most common immigration channels in Ontario:


Immigration Channel of PNP Province:

Masters Graduate Stream

After graduating from this category, you can apply for Ontario nomination, no job, no major, and no limit on the length of the course. However, the number of places allocated each year is limited and open from time to time. You must apply for it on a first-come, first-served basis.


Application requirements:

Have lived in Ontario for at least 12 months in the past 2 years;

Willing to settle and work in Ontario;

Have obtained a master's degree certificate from a qualified public university in Ontario, which is a full-time course of at least 1 year; or has not yet received a degree, but has met all graduation requirements;

The application is valid within two years after graduation;

At least CLB 7 in language (IELTS 6.0);

There is no intention to continue studying in Ontario.


Canadian CEC experience (EE)

belong to the federal immigration category, and applicants need to live in a federal province other than Quebec.

    1. The main applicant is 18 years old and above;

    2. At least 1 year of full-time or equivalent part-time work experience (30 hours/week, 1560 hours/year) in the past 3 years, and the occupational category engaged in is O, A, B in NOC;

    3. The applicant's work experience must be authorized and recognized by the relevant Canadian agency;

    4. If applicants complete their studies in China, they need to pass the certification of the Canadian Education Accreditation and Assessment Agency (ECA)

    5. For O and A jobs: require English to reach the level of CLB7 (ie IELTS 4 6); for B jobs: require English to reach the level of CLB5 (ie 5 points for IELTS listening, speaking and writing, 4 points for reading);

    6. The applicant and his accompanying persons meet the requirements of physical examination and safety investigation (no criminal record);

Please note: Self-employment and part-time work during school are not considered work experience. Self-employed or employed work experience gained during full-time studies is not recognized.

Canadian federal experience immigrants select candidates through a scoring system. Only after being selected can you be eligible to submit the application. The higher the score, the better, for example: high academic qualifications, high IELTS, O, A, B work experience, the longer the better.


Q: While waiting for immigration, do I have to return to my country if my work permit expires?

A: After you submit your immigration application, you can apply for another bridge work permit. Immigration Canada has introduced a bridge work permit (Bridging Open Work Permit), which allows foreign workers whose immigration application is pending but their work permit is about to expire. To apply for a bridge work permit, the applicant must hold a valid work permit, and cannot hold other types of visas (visitors, study permits), and cannot restore status after the work permit expires.
